Lawrence D. CARR

Lawrence D. CARR, 65 of rural Douds died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, at home.

A funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds with the Rev. Phil Campbell officiating. Burial with American Legion John Hyson Reneker Post No. 494 of Douds, according military rites, will be in Leando Cemetery, Douds.

Visitation began at 2 p.m. today, with family present 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials to Hospice of Central Iowa may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 412 Fourth St., Bonaparte 52620.

Mr. CARR was born April 28, 1947, in Ottumwa, the son of Stephen and Melva PEARSON CARR.

He graduated from Van Buren High School in 1965.

He served in the U. S. Army and as (sic - was?) wounded in action in Vietnam.

He worked at Rockwell International in Fairfield and at John Deere Ottumwa Works.

He retired from Pinkerton Security Co., as a guard at Meritor Corp., Fairfield.

He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include one brother, Carl CARR of Douds; two sisters, Linda ROSENDAAL and spouse Clarence of Oskaloosa and Phyllis HENDRICKS and spouse George of Bonaparte.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister-in-law.
