Bernard J. "Jr" JOHNSON, 82, of Camdenton, Miss., formerly of Fairfield, died Friday Oct. 26, 2012, in Springfield, Missouri.
A funeral service is at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield with the Rev. Nate Nims officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield with Military honors.
The family will receive friends from 5 - 7 p.m. Wednesday evening at Raymond Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Association. Online condolences may be made at www.raymondfuneralhomes.com.
Mr. JOHNSON was born May 17, 1930 in Shenandoah, Iowa, the son of Bernard Joseph and Effie JOHNSON. He married Barbara Lee MEANS May 1, 1950 in Corning.
He grew up in Corning and graduated from Corning High School.
Mr. and Mrs. JOHNSON lived in Corning, Shenandoah and Ottumwa before moving to Fairfield in 1964.
He managed Thermogas in Fairfield until his retirement in 1990, when they moved to the Lake of the Ozarks.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1952 until 1954.
He was a member of the Elks Club and the Walton Club in Fairfield.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry JOHNSON and wife Ann of Nixa, Miss., Jimmy JOHNSON and wife Amy of Fairfield; three grandchildren; and his brother Gary JOHNSON of Red Oak.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; and an infant sister.
