DIED in Monmouth,IL March 6, 1867, Mrs. Margaret BELL, consort of Rev. L.G. BELL aged 77 years and 1 day. Mrs. BELL was born in Hagerstown MD, March 4, 1790. Her father Major William BAIRD, was a ruling elder in the Presbyterian church in Hagerstown and a man of high moral worth. She lost her parents early in life, and recollected only her mother, who was a sufferer during the Revolutionary War; for she was captured by the Indians while descending the Ohio River and marched through the trackless wilderness to Detroit, and after enduring many hardships, was, through the influence of the British, restored to home and friends. The subject of this notice was married to Rev. L.G. BELL, March 15, 1810 by Rev. John Matthews, D.D. of Shepardstown VA, and the relation thus formed continued 57 years happily, to be dissolved only by death.
