Lockridge, Ia. -- Lawrence ALLENDER, retired railroad employee and long-time resident of this community, died suddenly Sunday evening while visiting at the home of his son in Fairfield, Jake ALLENDER, 607 E. Adams..... Last rites will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Lockridge Baptist church with the Rev. C. H. Peters in charge. Burial will be in the Lockridge cemetery.... Lawrence ALLENDER, 79, was born Oct. 5, 1883, in Henry County, Iowa, the son of George and Jane MESSER ALLENDER. He was married to Kathryn SMITH (sic - Martha Kathryn) on July 3, 1902 at Mt. Pleasant. She preceded him in death on Feb. 17, 1941. He had spent his entire life in the Lockridge and Mt. Pleasant communities. He was a farmer, and worked for the C.B.& Q. railroad until his retirement 12 years ago.
ALLENDER is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Otto HILDEBRAND; two sons, George and Jake ALLENDER, all of Fairfield. Other survivors include eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers, two sisters and one son.
