J. HASTINGS Dies At 60

John C. HASTINGS, 60, 413 North B, died Tuesday evening at Jefferson County Hospital after a long illness.

Born Aug. 10, 1916 in Pauling, Ohio, Hastings was the son of Chase and Elsie COLLAIS HASTINGS. On May 27, 1938 he married Christine WOODROW. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Ronald of Mount Pleasant and Roger of Fairfield; three daugthers, Judith SCHANFELDT of Freeport, Ill., Janet MILLER of Fairfield and Pattie LANE of Ottumwa and four granchildren.

Hastings was a member of the Birmingham Presbyterian Church and the Fairfield Eagles Lodge.

Services will be Friday, 2 p.m., at Burch Funeral Home in Birmingham with the Rev. David Kennedy officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. The family will meet with friends at the family home in Fairfield on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m.
