Katherine Florence HELVERSON

Katherine Florence HELVERSON, 95, of Windsor, Colo., died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003, in the hospice unit of North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley, Colo.

A celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers a memorial donation may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Northern Colorado in care of Allnutt Funeral Home, 650 W. Drake, Fort Collins, CO 80526 or Behner Funeral Home.

Mrs. HELVERSON was born July 10, 1908 (sic - 1909), in Bonaparte, the daughter of Roy and Alma STONE. She married Dr. Clarence R. REYNOLDS July 3, 1933. He died in 1963. She married James C. HELVERSON in 1970. He died in 1990.

Mrs. Helverson moved to Des Moines with her family in 1917, where she graduated from North High School and attended Drake University. She and her first husband moved to Fairfield in 1939 to start a medical practice. She was a homemaker and worked with her husband until his death. She then worked as a librarian until her second marriage, when she moved to Wilmette, Ill. The couple retired in 1985 and moved back to Des Moines, living there until her second husbands death. She lived in Fort Collins and Windsor areas for the past 10 years to be near her family.

She was a charter member of P.E.O. and a member of Theta Sigma Chi sorority. Her pastimes included reading and playing bridge.

Survivors include one son, Robert REYNOLDS of Windsor; one daughter-in-law, Konnie REYNOLDS of Windsor; one stepson, Alan HELVERSON of Gulf, Ill.; one stepdaughter, Sandy DEVOGELEAR of Fort Meyers, Fla.; four grandchildren; and many stepgrandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; and one son, James REYNOLDS.
