Frances Mae Phillips
December 08, 2003Frances Mae Phillips, 68, of Mount Pleasant, formerly of Salem, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003, at Arbor Court in Mount Pleasant.
The funeral was held at 10:30 a.m. today at Calvary Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Tom Palmer and the Rev. Charlie Sander officiating. Burial was in Forest Home Cemetery.
A memorial has been established to Grace Community Friends Church children's department.
Mrs. Phillips was born July 7, 1935, in Fairfield, the daughter of James Henry and Ina Mae Myers Simmons. She married Clarence Phillips Oct. 5, 1952, in Fairfield. He died March 5, 2000.
Mrs. Phillips was a homemaker and worked at the P.E.O. Home. Her pastimes included needlework.
She attended Grace Community Friends Church and was a member of United Society Friends Women.
Survivors include one son, Jerry Phillips and wife Patti of Mount Pleasant; three daughters, Linda Sammons of Mount Union, Ruth Ann McMeins and Carlene Phillips of Mount Pleasant; one brother, Butch Simmons of Fremont; nine grandchildren; one stepgrandchild; and seven great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; and one brother.
