December 01, 2003Roland E. Kinzie, 89, of Casa Grande, Ariz., formerly of Douds died Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, at Desert Valley Care Center in Casa Grande.
The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds, with the Rev. Connie Markle officiating. Burial, with military rites by the John Hyson Reneker Post American Legion, will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery east of Douds.
Open visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the family present from 7-8 p.m.
Memorials to John Hyson Reneker Post American Legion, may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 308 Esperanza, Ajo, AZ 85321.
Mr. Kinzie was born Oct. 22, 1914, on a farm near Augusta, in Lee County, the son of Bud L. and Martha Murphy Kinzie. He married Hazel Jones Stagers May 19, 1950, in Columbia, Mo. She died Jan. 19, 1990.
Mr. Kinzie graduated from Douds High School in 1934, served in the United States Army Air Corps for three years during World War II. He lived in Douds and for many years in Waterloo where he was employed at Rath Packing Company, in Hedrick and in Arizona for the past 14 years.
He was a 50 year member of John Hyson Reneker Post No. 494 American Legion in Douds.
Survivors include one stepdaughter, Betty Topping of Ajo; three stepgrandchildren; seven stepgreat-grandchildren; three stepgreat-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Anna Belthius of Phoenix, Ariz., and Frances Lynch of Newhall.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Richard Kinzie; and one son-in-law, Rex Topping.
