The Fairfield Ledger; March 7, 1906, Page 8, col. 4. MRS. McWHIRTER DIED SUDDENLY. Mrs. Catherine McWhirter died at her home on East Jefferson Sunday after a short illness, age 78 years, 11 months and 17 days. She was born at McConnellsburg, Fulton Co. PA, March 17, 1827, came to Iowa in the early 50's and was married July 20, 1854 to John McWhirter, who died January 4, 1901. To this union there were born seven children, five of whom survive the mother..Lutheran Church..Interment in Evergreen Cemetery.
