John Alan ALBERTSEN passed away on Tuesday, September 25, in Fairfield, IA of lymphatic cancer diagnosed in 2002.
John treated himself with the help of homeopathic professionals and thrived for most of the time until the last month.
John was born in Des Moines, IA on March 13, 1950.
He was preceded in death by his father & mother Alan and Leota BERANEK ALBERTSEN, and step-mother Betty ALBERTSEN.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra ALBERTSEN, 2 sons, Michael and David, his brother Steve, sister Jill GRAMS and nieces and nephews.
John graduated from Aquinas High School and the University of WI in LaCrosse (sic - La Crosse), WI. He majored in Art, where he learned metal-smithing.
He was also a skilled potter, stain-glass (sic) artisan, carpenter/wood-working (after his father), painting, playing the guitar and enjoyed singing from his upbringing in the Bishop's Choir in LaCrosse (sic - La Crosse), WI.
John was the owner of John the Ringman & Co. He became a well-known silversmith for his artistic ring designs, quality of work, and customer's gratification.
Upon his request he was cremated at Behner Funeral Home and a gravesite ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on October 3, 2012 at the Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield, IA.
