Orville MORGAN graveside rites

Graveside services were scheduled to be held at 1 p.m. today for Orville MORGAN, 89, of 405 W. Merrill Ave., at Fell Cemetery near Richland* with the Rev. Jerry Miller officiating.

MORGAN was found dead at his home Friday afternoon after a neighbor became suspicious of newspapers and mail accumulating on the porch. Jefferson County Medical Examiner Dr. Terry Sutton pronounced dead at the scene and said he died of natural causes. Sutton said MORGAN had been dead between two and three weeks.

MORGAN was born April 28, 1897, in Rush County, Ind. He lived most of his adult life in Fairfield, moving here as a young man when he became a salesman for Harper Brush Company. He later worked for Louden Machinery Company until his retirement.

He married Geraldine ROBERTS on Sept. 25, 1926 in Fairfield. His wife died on June 24, 1976 and he also was preceded in death by one sister.

Surviving are one daughter, Jean HEWITT (sic - HEWETT) of Cedar Falls, and six grandchildren. MORGAN was a veteran of World War I and a member of the United Methodist Church.

***Transcribers note: Orville is listed on FindAGrave.com as being buried in Fell Cemetery, Libertyville, IA. There is a picture of a tombstone with both him and his wife names. Believe "Richland" is in error.

Admin. note: Our records indicate Orville and Geraldine are buried in Fell Cemetery near Libertyville; Richland is an error. Also, the last name of the surviving daughter has been corrected -- a granddaughter of Orville and Geraldine states the correct spelling is HEWETT.
