Louis Joseph IPSAN, 89, former Fairfield resident, died at 5 a.m. today at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Raymond Funeral Home with the Rev. William Sullivan officiating and with military rites by the Allen Jewett Post of the American Legion. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. A memorial has been established to Mass stipends.
IPSAN was born April 29, 1897 in Yugoslavia, which was Austria at that time. His parents were Ivan Matthew and Barbara Agnes JAGATIC IPSAN. The family moved from Austria early in 1901, came to the United States in 1907, and lived in Davenport and Fairfield. IPSAN repaired furniture and was bartender at the American Legion in Fairfield for many years. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the American Legion and was a veteran of both World Wars.
Surviving are a brother, Anthony, Cedar Rapds; two sisters, Kathryn BREECE, Spokane, Wash., Rose Marie QUELL, Burlington; several nieces and nephews. His parents, four brothers and a sister preceded him in death.
