Rites For H. TURNER

Services for Harold L. TURNER, 57, who died suddenly Tuesday morning at his home, 604 E. Adams, will be Friday, 2 p.m., at Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. Keevin Koch officiating. Military rites will be conducted by VFW at Memorial Lawn Cemetery.

TURNER had been in failing health the last several years. He was born May 15, 1920 at Stockport, the son of Guy R. and Nina LYONS TURNER. On April 29, 1939 he married Doris M. HANKS at Memphis, Mo.

A member of the Fairfield community all his life, TURNER worked at Rockwell Standard but was retired on disability. He served in World War II and was a member of VFW.

Surviving are his wife; his father of Richland; five sons, Dick of Kingsport, Tenn., James of Ottumwa, John of Colorado Springs, Colo., Bill and Robert, both of Fairfield; 14 grandchildren; two brothers, George of Fairfield and Donald of Ottumwa; four sisters, Marjorie SMIDDY of Moline, Ill., Maxene PARKER and Wilma FLEMING, both of Fairfield and Marilyn Jean STARKSON of Rochester, Minn.

His mother and one sister preceded him in death.

(I have actively researched the LYON/LYONS lineage for over 40 years.)

Admin. note: Buried in Lot Acacia 68 - space 1. Wife Doris died in 2005 and is beside him in space 2.
