Anna SHERADEN

Anna SHERADEN, 82, of Washington, died Friday, July 19, 2002 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, following a stroke.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. today at St. Joseph Catholic Church in East Pleasant Plain, with the Rev. Dennis Martin officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

Memorials have been established to St. James Catholic Church in East Pleasant Plain.

Mrs. SHERADEN was born Nov. 6, 1919, in Brighton, the daughter of John J. and Agnes (FRITZ) PACHA. She graduated from Brighton High School in 1937 and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Parsons College in 1967. She continued her education at Northeast Missouri State College in Kirksville, Mo.

She married George W. SHERADEN May 26, 1953 in East Pleasant Plain. He died in 1998. They farmed in the Ollie community until his retirement in 1984 and then moved to Washington in 1996.

She taught in rural schools in Washington and Keokuk counties for 13 years and at Pekin Community for 24 years. She was a member of Mother Cabrini Church in Richland and St. James Catholic Church and Altar and Rosary Society in Washington.

Survivors include four sisters, Isabelle ADAM of Richland, Helen HESSELTINE of Oxford, Mary REDLINGER of Washington, and Josephine PACHA of Brighton; and two brothers, Paul PACHA of Brighton and Charles PACHA of Washington.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
