Evelyn GOEHRING

Evelyn GOEHRING, 81, of Fairfield, died at 4:15 p.m. Friday, July 19, 2002, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Christian Church in Fairfield with the Rev. David A. Vernon officiating. Burial will be in Fell Cemetery near Libertyville.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield. A memorial has been established to First Christian Church.

Mrs. GOEHRING was born May 18, 1921 in Hunnewell, Mo., the daughter of Leonard and Mary BAIRD LAUGHLIN. Her family moved to the Douds community when she was 8 years old. She graduated from Douds High School and attended Iowa State Teachers' College, now the University of Northern Iowa.

She married Lewis Keith GOEHRING Feb. 18, 1940, in Fairfield. They farmed southwest of Libertyville until his death in 1971. She moved to Fairfield in 1983 and was a member of First Christian Church.

Survivors include two sons, Larry GOEHRING and his wife Nicky of Stockport, and Gary GOEHRING of Keosauqua; four grandchildren; one sister, Helen GOEHRING of Fairfield; and one brother, Howard LAUGHLIN of Douds.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Dorothy TEDROW.
