Fred WEAVER rites Tuesday

C. Fred WEAVER, 77, Route 2, died at 1:15 a.m. today at the Jefferson County Hospital where he had been admitted a short time before.

Services will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Raymond Funeral Home with the Rev. David Kennedy officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.

Members of the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

C. Fred WEAVER was born Oct. 14, 1904, in Jefferson County. He was the son of Charles and Eve STEPP WEAVER. He was a member of the Baptist Church and lived most of his life in the county.

He was first married to Ethel BELLAMY. Later he married Helen GIBERSON Dec. 16, 1950, at Bloomfield. She survives.

Weaver was employed at the Dexter Co. for 40 years before his retirement in 1966.

In addition to his widow WEAVER is survived by two sons, Kenneth Ray, Cedar Lake, Ind., and Richard WEAVER, Fairfield; five daughters, Patricia HECKETHORNE, Birmingham; Janet GARREN, Decatur, Ill.; Virginia ESSARY, Brighton; Roxanne WEIGERT and Deanna COOKSEY, both of Fairfield.

He is also survived by six step-children, 26 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Rex, Cedar Rapids; Leonard and James, both of Birmingham; and a sister, Virgie KIRBY, Cedar Rapids.

He was preceded in death by one son, one daughter, one brothers and two sisters.

(I research the branches of the CANADAY lineage.)

Admin. note: Charles is buried in Lot Memorial 79 - space 5. Second wife Helen is noted on his gravestone but she's buried in Memorial 80 - space 2; she was first married to a GARRISON. Information from the cemetery notes that Charles died on the 3rd, however this could have been a mis-read 8. In addition, information from another descendant states he may have actually died on the 7th. Use caution when citing a DOD for Charles.
