John R. GRIMES

John Romain GRIMES, 92, of Richland died Monday evening, Nov. 13, 2000, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center in Ottumwa.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Richland United Methodist Church in Richland, with the Rev. Wilbur Morfitt officiating. Burial will be at a later date.

The body has been donated to Des Moines University Osteopathic Medical Center Department of Anatomy.

A memorial has been established to the Richland United Methodist Church. Gould Funeral Home in Richland is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. GRIMES was born Sept. 14, 1908, near Libertyville, the son of Tillman H. and Nettie E. MORRISON GRIMES. He married Lucille MULGRAVE Feb. 5, 1928. She died Nov. 17, 1976.

Mr. GRIMES grew up near Fairfield. He graduated from Fairfield High School.

He and his wife lived in Fairfield. He was employed at Iowa Ordnance Plant near Burlington until he enlisted in the United States Navy in 1944.

He and his wife moved to Richland in 1946. He was employed as the partsman at Bob Hanna Garage. Later, he worked for Sasseen Plumbing and Heating in Richland.

He was a member of Richland United Methodist Church and Richland Post 504 of the American Legion.

Survivors include one daughter, Betty BAEDKE of Washington, Iowa; two grandsons; five great-grandchildren; and special friend Myrtle FULTON of Richland.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Florence SYFERT and Fay PARCELL.
