Harvey Edward COLE, 80, of Fairfield, died at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2002, at Nelson Nursing Home.
Cremation is planned with a graveside service and interment at Hillcrest Cemetery in Brighton to be scheduled at a later date.
Raymond Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Cole was born Dec. 27, 1921, in Brighton, the son of Hugh and Hazel COLE. He married Norma BLAINE Aug. 20, 1948, in Iowa City.
He lived most of his life in Brighton and Washington. He was a graduate of Brighton High School. He served in George Patton's Third Army Division during World War II in the European Theater of Operation. He worked as a linotype operator for the Washington Evening Journal for more than 20 years. He later worked for McCleary-Cummings Calendar Company in Washington.
He was a member of the Washington Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include one son, Douglas E. COLE of Fairfield; two daughters, Barbara COX of Lawrenceville, Ga., and Linda COLE of Fairfield; two grandchildren; and one sister, Helen HUNT of Washington.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 11 brothers and sisters.
