Lloyd A. MOYERS, 87, of Burlington, died at 12:50 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 2, 2012, at the Great River Medical Center - Klein Center in West Burlington.
A funeral is at 10 a.m. Thursday at Thielen Funeral Home in Burlington with Ken Moyers officiating. A time of food and fellowship will be held in the community room at the funeral home following the service. Cremation will be accorded following the funeral.
Visitation is from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. with the family present from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. A memorial has been established.

Mr. MOYERS was born Oct. 16, 1924 in Des Moines County, the son of Edward Nelson and Ruth Alfrida YOUNGBERG MOYERS. He married Betty Lee BROWN Nov. 16, 1946, in Memphis, Mo. She died Nov. 24, 1968.
He farmed most of his life, was an Amway distributor and worked at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant.
He was a member of the Denmark Congregational United Church of Christ.
He was a member of the NRA and the North American Fishing Club. He loved to fish, hunt, bowl, going to the casino, traveling, playing cards, playing and watching baseball/softball and especially being with family and friends and giving hugs.
Survivors include three sisters, Caroline BAILEY and spouse Charles of Keokuk, Mabel HAINES and spouse Ernest of Fairfield and Elizabeth LONG of Lockridge.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Johnny Bill MOYERS, one daughter, Ruth Ann MOYERS, one brother, Doyle MOYERS and one sister, Ethel MOYERS.

*Transcribed for genealogy purposes; I have no relation to the person(s) mentioned.Note: Lloyd's wish was to be cremated and his ashes buried in his favorite hunting spot on his sister Betty LONG's farm in Section 4, Round Prairie Township, near Wolfe Creek. There was no gravestone installed for him but his resting place is marked by a large rock, and the exact site known only to his sister's children.
His wife Betty died in Mt. Pleasant, IA, and was buried in Mediapolis, IA, in Kossuth Cemetery which was near Lloyd's childhood home.
