Pearl Sylvia HICKENBOTTOM

Pearl Sylvia HICKENBOTTOM, 100, of 800 W. Depot Ave. died at 4:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3, 2000, at Jefferson County Hospital.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Behner Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ed Elliott officiating. Burial will be in Lockridge Cemetery in Lockridge.

Family visitation will be from 6:30-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Lockridge Cemetery Association.

Mrs. HICKENBOTTOM was born Sept. 20, 1900, in Van Buren County, the daughter of John William Drew and Sarah Elizabeth JOHNSON GREEN. She married Ralph Merton HICKENBOTTOM July 2, 1921, in Ottumwa. He died Sept. 23, 1955.

She had lived in Fairfield since 1938. Prior to that, she had lived in Biggsville, Ill. She was a member of the Rebecca Lodge 386 and L.E.A. Auxiliary No. 6, both in Fairfield; Ladies Auxiliary Patriarch Military in Ottumwa; and Odd Fellows Lodge and Encampment.

Survivors include five grandchildren, Jerry W. HICKENBOTTOM of Austin, Texas, Paul R. HICKENBOTTOM of LaPorte, Texas, Connie CASTEEL of Mount Pleasant, Ralph HICKENBOTTOM and Carol JOHNSON, both of Fairfield; 12 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one step-daugther, Hazel; three sons, Raymond, Harry Ray HICKENBOTTOM and a stillborn infant; two sisters, Mamie TOWNE and Marjorie CLARK; and two brothers, Charlie GREEN and King GREEN.

Note: Pearl was Ralph's second wife; his first, Mable L. KAUFFMAN, died in 1920. All three are buried in Lockridge Cemetery.
