Dayle L. SWARTZ, 66, formerly of Batavia, died at 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2000, at Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield.
The funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Kremer Funeral Home in Batavia with the Rev. David Albert officiating. Burial will be in Batavia Cemetery in Batavia.
Open visitation began at noon today with family present from 7-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society or to the family.
Mrs. (sic - Mr.) SWARTZ was born June 14, 1933, in Libertyville, the son of Floyd and Dorothy LAUGHLIN SWARTZ. He married Anna Marie SPILMAN Sept. 22, 1956, in Wapello County.
He had previously driven a school bus and owned and operated his own gravel truck. He and his wife farmed in the Batavia area their entire adult lives. He was a former member of the Knights of Pythias of Libertyville and a United States Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include this wife; one son, Richard SWARTZ of Batavia; three daughters, Debra SMITH of Fairfield and Dorothy MILLHOUSE and Linda SWARTZ, both of Batavia; 11 grandchildren; and one sister, Dixie SCHMITTER of Libertyville.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother Edward.
