Melvin D. CRABLE

Melvin D. CRABLE, 68, of Rock Island, Ill., died Sunday, March 5, 2000, at Trinity Medical Center, West Rock Island, Ill.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. Ed Elliott officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday at Esterdahl Mortuary Ltd. in Moline, Ill. Family visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Friday, preceding the funeral service at Behner Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the family.

Mr. CRABLE was born July 19, 1931, in Fairfield, the son of Clyde C. and Stella RIDENOUR CRABLE. He married Anna Marie WELCH June 6, 1952, in Fairfield.

He was employed at Alcoa Inc. in Bettendorf, as a press operator in the foil mill for more than 30 years. He was a member of the Iowa National Guard and a volunteer firefighter in Milan, Ill.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Steve CRABLE of Clearwater, Fla.; two daughters, Georgia DURBIN and Sherry MARTINEZ, both of East Moline, Ill.; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; three brothers, Marvin CRABLE of Mount Pleasant, Arnold CRABLE of Fairfield and Clyde Donald CRABLE of Delta; and one sister, Florence BYERS of Fairfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, two brothers and one grandson.
