Mabel R. CARTER, 96 of Keosauqua, died at 10:22 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, 2012, at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.
A funeral is at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. Bill Shewmaker officiating. Burial will be in Bonaparte Cemetery (sic - in Van Buren County, IA).
Visitation is from 4-7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with family present from 5-7 p.m.
Memorials to Bonaparte Cemetery may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 711 Dodge St., Keosauqua 52565.
Mrs. CARTER was born April 3, 1916 in Bonaparte, the daughter of Glenn and Anna HOUSER DAVIS. She married Charley CARTER Nov. 2, 1936, in Memphis, Mo. He died April 19, 1979.
They farmed in rural Mount Sterling and retired to Keosauqua.
She resided at Good Samaritan Society-Van Buren the past year.
She was of the Methodist faith and attended the former Mount Sterling United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one son, Harold CARTER and spouse Carol of Keosauqua; one daughter, Irene STAGERS and spouse Dan of Borger, Texas; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three stepgranddaughters; and five stepgreat-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Pearl CHAMBERS and Ida Mae SNYDER.
