Malera "Molly" Callahan
November 25, 2003Malera "Molly" Callahan, 85, of 801 W. Depot Ave., died Monday morning, Nov. 24, 2003, in her home.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at American Mausoleum in Peoria, Ill. Entombment will be in the American Mausoleum.
Open visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Raymond Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
Mrs. Callahan was born Sept. 1, 1918, in Decaturville, Tenn., the daughter of John William and Eddith Aaron Hicks. She married Auburn Horner. He died in 1974. She married Robert E. Callahan March 1, 1975, in Washington, Iowa. He died in February 1986.
Mrs. Callahan grew up in Tennessee, lived in Peoria for 42 years before moving to Fairfield in 1992. She was a waitress.
She was a member of Local 55 and Local 208 and an honorary member of the Retiree Club.
Survivors include three daughters, Anna French of Fairfield, Bettye Hendricks of Manito, Ill., and Cheryl Gish of East Peoria, Ill.; two sons, Jerry Horner and Jim Horner, both of Fairfield; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, plus one great-great-grandchild; two brothers, Orville Hicks and O.L. Hicks, both of Parsons, Tenn.; and one sister, Lucille Briggs of Linden, Tenn.
Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Jesse Edward Hicks and W.A. Hicks; and two sisters, Lois Jordan and Flora McKnight.
