Rodger METZ Dies At 24

Rodger Dean METZ, 24, Route 1, died at 3:15 p.m. Monday at the University Hospital in Iowa City following a brief illness.

Services will be Thursday, Sept. 8, at the United Methodist Church in Fairfield at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Wayne Bartruff and the Rev. David Kennedy officiating. Interment will be in Glasgow Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Raymond Funeral Home.

The casket will be taken from the funeral home to the church at 9 a.m. Thursday.

Rodger Dean METZ was born Oct. 28, 1952, in Fairfield. He was the son of Donald and Lois DAILEY METZ.

He had lived in the Fairfield Community all of his life and graduated from the Fairfield Community High School in 1971. He was married to Pamela Sue KENNEDY Feb. 3, 1973, in Fairfield.

Metz was employed as a correctional officer at the Medium Security Unit in Mount Pleasant. He was a member of the United Methodist Church at Stockport, the Lions Club at Stockport, and Odd Fellows Jefferson Lodge No. 4 in Fairfield.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Ryan Dean, 16 months old; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Donald METZ, Fairfield; and a brother, Mark METZ, Alexis, Ill.

Metz was preceded in death by his grandparents.
