Mildred M. Duvall, 95, of Cantril died Nov. 22, 2003, at home.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Cantril United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Raymond Doser and the Rev. Jerry Caughron officiating. Burial will be in Troy Cemetery.

Open visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with family present from 7-8 p.m.

Memorials to Cantril United Methodist Church or Cantril Grassroots Organization may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at PO Box 151, Cantril 52542.

Mrs. Duvall was born May 27, 1908, near Kinsley, Kan., the daughter of George E. and Jennie Miner Carothers. She married Marvin "Toby" Duvall Sept. 5, 1930. He died Sept. 5, 1969.

Mrs. Duvall grew up in Kansas, graduated from Kinsley High School, taught in Kansas rural schools, farmed with her husband on land between Troy and Douds and lived in Troy until moving to Cantril.

She was a member of Cantril Grassroots Organization, a neighborhood card club and a craft club. She was a charter member of the Valley Club in Chequest Township and a former member of Troy Quilters.

She was a member of Cantril United Methodist Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Nadine Williams of Cantril; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Fern Rich of Quincy, Ill., and Bessie Weese of DeSoto, Kan.; and one brother, Lee Carothers of Kinsley, Kan.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one son-in-law, Max Williams; four brothers, Walter, Earl, Everett and Virgil Carothers; and one sister, Edna Ledbetter.
