Myrtle JOHNSTON rite Thursday

BIRMINGHAM --- The service for Myrtle E. JOHNSTON, 96, formerly of Birmingham and Stockport communities, who died at 7:35 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, 1989, at Nelson Nursing Home in Fairfield, where she had lived the last year, will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday Burch Funeral Home in Birmingham with the Rev. Sara Malone officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery at Birmingham. Friends may call at their convenience at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to the Nelson Nursing Home Activity Fund.

Mrs. JOHNSTON was born Dec. 2, 1892, near Glasgow, the daughter of Jesse C. and Laura Alice CASE HELFENSTINE. The last surviving member of her family of eight children, she lived most of her life in the Stockport-Birmingham communities. She married Wade Johnston who died June 18, 1972. A homemaker, she was a member of the Stockport United Methodist Church, East Union Ladies Aid and a charter member of Royal Neighbors Lodge of Stockport.

Surviving are several nieces and nephews, including Nedra FISHEL and Bette KELLER, both of Fairfield. A son, Dick, preceded her in death
