Mrs. PENCE Dies At 88

Mrs. Carrie E. PENCE, 88, long time resident of Jefferson County died Monday, 1 p.m., at Parkview Care Center. She had been in failing health the past two years.

Mrs. PENCE was born Dec. 5, 1887 near Lockridge, the daughter of John and Emma VOLLMER CLARK. She married Charlie E. PENCE at Mount Pleasant on March 22, 1917. He died Aug. 5, 1964.

Mrs. Pence was a resident of Fairfield for over 26 years. Previous to that she lived near Lockridge for many years and was a member of Lockridge Baptist Church.

She is surivived by numerous nieces, nephews and distant relatives in the area. Three sisters and one brother preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be Thursday, 2 p.m., at Lockridge Baptist Church with the Rev. Lynn Bergfalk officiating. Burial will be in Lockridge Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, 7:30 to 8:30 p.m., at Behner Funeral Home.
