Mrs. Anna GILMER, one of the oldest pioneers of Jefferson county died this morning at 2;40 o'clock at the home of her son Frank GILMER on East Burlington street. She was 92 years of age and had been in failing health for several months although she was confined to her bed only three days. Anna Craton SCOTT-GILMER was born in Crawford county, Indiana, January 21-1817. She was of Scottish parentage and could trace a long line of illustrious ancestors back for centuries in the history of Scotland.
When three years of age her parents moved to Berlin, Illinois and there she grew to womanhood and on December 11-1855 became the bride of Robert T. GILMER. A few months after their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. GILMER came to Jefferson county and located on a farm in Round Prairie township near Glasgow.
Three children were born to them two daughters, both dying in infancy and one son, Frank who survives his mother. Mr. and Mrs. GILMER moved to Fairfield in 1889. On May 30-1902 Mr. GILMER died and since that time Mrs. GILMER has leaned upon her son for counsel and advice.
The last year she had been failing steadily although she was comforted and sustained by the Christian faith which was to her a sourse (sic) of never failing help and joy(.) Since childhood she had been a member of the Christian church and she was faithful to its principles until her death.
Funeral services will be held at the residence on East Burlington street, Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Rev. G. W. Burch will officiate.
