Geraldine M. HARTSOCK

Geraldine M. HARTSOCK, 81, of Brighton, died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2012, at the United Presbyterian Home in Washington, Iowa.

A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at First Church of God in Brighton with the Rev. Ryan Meader officiating. Burial will be in the Hummer Cemetery north of Sharon Center.

Visitation with family is 6-7 p.m. Thursday at First Church of God in Brighton.

Memorials to First Church of God or Hospice Compassus may be mailed to P.O. Box 369, Brighton 52540.

Gould Funeral Home of Brighton is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. HARTSOCK was born Aug. 19, 1930, in Freeport, Ill., the daughter of Arthur C. and Violet Marie WOLFE ALBRIGHT. She married Ernest J. HARTSOCK in Clinton, Sept. 7, 1951. He died Feb. 4, 2008.

She grew up in northern Illinois, moved to Clinton and graduated from Clinton High School in 1948. She attended the Great Lakes Bible Institute in Zion, Ill., and worked as a telephone operator.

She and her husband moved to Oxford where they farmed until 1967 when they both went to work for Mercy Hospital in Iowa City where she worked for 20 years.

They moved to Kalona in 1983 and to Brighton in 1998 where they were active members of the Brighton First Church of God and were members of the East Iowa Bible Camp near Millersburg. She continued her life-long study of the Bible and she crocheted gifts for her family and friends.

Survivors include two sons, Eugene HARTSOCK and his wife Anne of St. Paul, Minn., and Arthur HARTSOCK of Grand Forks, N.D.; two grandsons; two great-granddaughters; and one brother, Jim ALBRIGHT of Clyde, Ohio.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Eugene.
