Catherine Gregg CAMPBELL

Catherine Gregg CAMPBELL, 92, of 2237 Highway 34 East, died at 3:35 a.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2002, at the Parkview Care Center.

The body was been cremated and a graveside memorial service will be conducted at a later time at the Lockridge Cemetery.

The family has requested that memorials be made to the Fairfield Girl Scouts and may be sent to the funeral home.

Mrs. CAMPBELL was born April 15, 1920 (sic - 1910), in Fairfield, the daughter of William Charles and Elma George GREGG SMITH. She married Paul A. CAMPBELL April 25, 1929. He died Jan. 21 (sic - Jan. 18), 1967.

She served as director of the Girl Scout Camps in Fairfield and Princeton, Ill. She worked for years in the office of Dr. F.H. McClurg.

She was a member of Chapter C P.E.O.

Survivors include her two sons, William P. CAMPBELL of Cedar Rapids and Jerry R. CAMPBELL and wife Mary of Maryville, Tennessee; and three children.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and and brother William SMITH.

Catherine Gregg CAMPBELL, 92, of 2237 Highway 34, died April 17, 2002 at Parkview Care Center.

A graveside memorial will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at Lockridge Cemetery. In case of inclement weather, service will be conducted at Raymond Funeral Home.

A memorial has been established to Fairfield Girl Scouts.

Mrs. CAMPBELL was born April 15, 1910, in Fairfield, the daughter of William Charles and Elmas George GREGG SMITH.

Survivors include two sons, William P. CAMPBELL of Cedar Rapids and Jerry R. CAMPBELL and wife Mary of Maryville, Tenn.; five grandsons; and two great-grandchildren.

Admin. note: The Social Security Death Index gives her day of death as April 14, 2002. Information from her oldest grandson, David P. Campbell, states that she died on April 17th, two days after her 92nd birthday. He also states the reason the second obituary was published more than a year later was because two of her grandsons were expectant fathers at the time she passed away, and the family elected to wait until the following spring to hold services for her. In addition, the full name of Catherine's brother is William Cody SMITH.
