Merwin C. FORDYCE dies at 71

Merwin C. FORDYCE, 71, of 1106 S. Eighth St., died at 9:05 p.m. Friday at the Jefferson County Hospital. Raymond Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

FORDYCE was born June 9, 1911 in Jefferson County to Oren and Meta LAUGHLIN FORDYCE. He married Glenna FULTON on June 21, 1942.

FORDYCE farmed and also was a security guard at Iowa Malleable. He moved to Fairfield in 1975 from near Libertyville. He was a World War II veteran and a member of the Presbyterian Church.

One grandson and a brother preceded Fordyce in death. He is survived by his wife and five children: Patricia WONG, Memphis, Tenn.; Sue, Fairfield; Michael, Denver, Colo.; Ann PAYNE, Alexandria, La.; and Ellan, St. Paul, Minn. One brother, Tom, of Muscatine, and four grandchildren also survive.

The body has been donated to the College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery in Des Moines. Memorials may be given to the Heart Fund or Fairfield Public Library.
