Vern NIXON, 88, Route 2, died Sunday June 12, 1988, at the Nelson Nursing Home.
He was born Aug. 3, 1899 at Harrisburg in Van Buren County to Alonzo and Adlelia A. KLISE NIXON. He grew up in the Stockport community and married Mary TEETER Nov. 25, 1936 in Lewis County, Mo. She died Jan. 26, 1982.
The family moved north of Fairfield in 1950, where Vern farmed until his retirement in 1967, at which time they moved a mile west of Fairfield. In addition to his wife, he also was preceded in death by one sister and nine brothers.
Surviving are his children, Melva NIXON of Fairfield, Wayne NIXON of Des Moines, Marilyn HARB of New York City, Gary NIXON of Altoona, and Donna LEPPERT of Knoxville, and three grandchildren.
A graveside rite will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. tonight at the Raymond Funeral Home. A memorial has been established to the Iowa Lung Association.
