McWHIRTER rites

Services for Hugh L. McWHIRTER, retired Jefferson County farmer, will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday at the Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. Clair Odell officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Family visitation will be from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.

McWHIRTER died at 8:45 a.m. Monday at his home, 901 W. Burlington.

Hugh L. McWHIRTER was born Dec. 1, 1901 in Jefferson County. He was the son of William and Effie STOUT McWHIRTER. His marriage to Clara R. KRUMBOLTZ took place Feb. 27, 1923, in Fairfield. She survives.

He had spent his life as a farmer southeast of Fairfield until his retirement. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, No. 1927.

In addition to his widow, McWHIRTER is survived by a daughter, Kathryn J. UNKRICH, Fairfield; two grandchildren and a sister, Eva Mae KASPER, Santa Monica, Calif.

He was preceded in death by a son, one brother and two sisters.
