R. WORLEY rites set

PLEASANT PLAIN - Services for Robert LaVerne WORLEY, Sr., 59, Pleasant Plain, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in East Pleasant Plain with the Rev. Louis Leonhardt officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.

The Rosary will be recited Thursday at 8 p.m. at the Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Robert LaVern (sic) WORLEY was the son of Clayton D. and Dorothy BELIEL WORLEY.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater of War.

He was married Aug. 26, 1946, to Dolores PAUL (sic - PAULY) at St. Mary Catholic Church in Fairfield. He has been a resident of the Pleasant Plain Community since 1948. He served as mayor of Pleasant Plain for a number of years.

He was formerly employed by the late LeRoy Chalupa for 19 years, and in more recent years he was employed by Worley's Asphalt and Paving Co., Burlington.

WORLEY was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Elks, American Legion, VFW, Local 537 of the International Operating Engineers and a former member of the Iowa National Guard.

In addition to his widow, he is served (sic: survived) by six children: Karen RUBEY, Fairfield; Mary WORLEY, Glenwood; Capt. Robert WORLEY, Jr., Andrew Air Force Base, Md.; Sgt. Gerald WORLEY, Guam; Cindy WORLEY and Tom WORLEY both of Pleasant Plain.

Other survivors include five grandchildren; his father, Clayton WORLEY, Fredonia; a sister, Doris MINEART, Fairfield; five brothers, Verle and Lester, both of Washington; Kenneth, Burlington; Raeford, Fort Madison; and James Ronald, Iowa City. He was preceded in death by his mother.
