Manford "Buck" Manley, 74, of Washington, Iowa, died at 12:18 p.m. Monday, Nov. 17, 2003, at the VA Medical Center in Iowa City.

The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Behner Funeral Home, with the Rev. James Cluney officiating. Burial, with military rites, will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Family visitation will be from 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the family.

Mr. Manley was born March 6, 1929, in Fairfield, the son of John and Rosia Bishop Manley.

Mr. Manley was a former Fairfield resident and a farmhand for the James Spears farms around Hedrick. He lived with Nova and Sheila Harper in Washington. He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include one sister, Virginia Slutts of Muscatine.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Andrew, Floyd, Cecil, Franklin and Arnold Manley; and five sisters, Aledia Williams, Jane Bruders, Darlene Harper, Karlene Smith and Fern, who died in infancy.
