Raymond Milton COOP, 76, Route 2, died Thursday, 7:40 a.m., at Jefferson County Hospital.
COOP was born April 6, 1900 in Jefferson County, the son of Albert and Katie DANA COOP. He was a resident of Jefferson County his entire life where he farmed in the Antioch community.
His elementary education was in Penn Township and he studied agriculture for two years at Iowa State University in Ames.
On Dec. 12, 1923, he married Ferne GODWIN in Fairfield. He was a member of Antioch United Church of Christ and a 50-year member of IOOF Lodge 4 in Fairfield. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Surviving are his wife; three sons, Bruce, Bernard and Roger, all of Fairfield; four daughters, Jo CHAMBERS of Packwood, Sharon SMITH of Bloomfield, Colee HOSPERS of Iowa City and Rose HENDRICKS of Fairfield; three sisters, Celeste HOLM, Fairfield, Gladys HART, Des Moines and Beatrice COOP, Iowa City; 28 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m., at Raymond Funeral Home with the Rev. David Kennedy officiating. Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery.
