Roland E. WILLIAMS, 85, of Blakesburg, formerly of Douds, died at 7:45 p.m. Sunday, July 8, 2012, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.
Arrangements are pending at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds.

Roland E. WILLIAMS, 85, of Blakesburg, died at 7:45 p.m. Sunday, July 8, 2012, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.
A funeral is at 11 a.m. Thursday at Blakesburg United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim Matheny officiating. Burial will be in Mount Moriah Cemetery north of Douds.
Visitation begins at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds, with family present 5-7 p.m.
Memorials to Blakesburg United Methodist Church or St. Jude's Children's Hospital may be left at the funeral home, church or mailed to the family at 23224 Bluegrass Road, Blakesburg, 52536.
Mr. WILLIAMS was born Nov. 19, 1926, near Birmingham, the son of Fred and Hazel WILEY WILLIAMS. He married Marilyn RATCLIFF Nov. 10, 1951, in Keosauqua.
He grew up in Van Buren County. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He and his wife lived on their farm near Blakesburg since 1959. He had been employed at Morrells in Ottumwa and retired from John Deere Ottumwa Works.
He was a Mason in Empire Lodge No. 269, Ottumwa.
He attended Blakesburg United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Kenneth WILLIAMS of Knoxville; one daughter-in-law, Alice WILLIAMS PRICE of Sioux City; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; and one sister, Hazel Belle BAKER of Fairfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Mike WILLIAMS; three brothers, Max, Fred Jr. and Donald; and two sisters, Reva HUFF and Nellie BESICK.
