Pg. 2 Col. 4MRS. FRED HARPER DIED THIS MORNING.
Mrs. Fred HARPER died this morning at an early hour at her home on West Merrill street leaving a little babe four hours old. News of her death has been a great shock to her relatives and friends and the young husband is well nigh prostrated. Mrs. HARPER was before her marriage Miss Margaret HULL of Stockport.
Mrs. HARPER was about nineteen years old and is survived by her husband and the little babe and her parents who reside near Stockport. No arrangements have been made for the funeral owing to the fact that the parents are expected this afternoon. The remains may be taken to Stockport for burial (sic. Elizabeth, daughter of Jas. and Mary HULL, was born in Keosauqua, Iowa, September 15, 1893. She grew to young womahood in the vicinity of her birth and was united in marriage to Fred HARPER July 17, 1911. She died at her home in Fairfield, Friday, July 12, 1912.
Less than one year had elapsed since she became the bride of the man of her choice. How true the words of the Bible, "Thou knowest not what a day may bring forth." How true the saying of Christ, "Two women shall be grinding at the mill, one shall be taken and one is left."
Besides the young husband, who is left to mourn the loss of a loving companion, a tiny babe survives to miss the kind and thoughtful care that only a mother can give.
The funeral was held from the home on North Second street, Saturday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock, conducted by Dr. Thomas Osborn, and ibnterment was in Evergreen cemetry (sic).

*Transcribed for genealogy purposes; I have no relation to the person(s) mentioned.RKT note: Daugther of "Jas HULL" and "Mary POOL HARPER" according to Elizabeth's 1911 marriage record in Jefferson county, Iowa. Born September 15, 1893.
First wife of Fred HARPER (a/k/a James Frederick HARPER), married July 17, 1911. He subsequently remarried and is buried in another section of Evergreen Cemetery, Fairfield, Iowa (his grave is unmarked, however).
No headstone is in place for Elizabeth or her son James. A previous Evergreen cemetery transcription [source?] inadvertently used July 1, 1912 for the DOB of the child James. It should have been July 12, 1912. James died later in the year on Ocotber 23, 1912. Both Elizabeth and the infant James were buried in Evergreen cemetery, Fairfield, Iowa. SDiv.2-037.
