DEATH CLAIMS OCTOGENARIAN

Mrs. J. H. MONTGOMERY, widow of one of Fairfield's early manufacturers, died last night at her home at 605 N. Third street. She was 83 years old and had been in failing health for the past year.

Mrs. MONTGOMERY had been a resident of Fairfield since childhood.

The former Ada LAMBERTSON, she was born Nov. 3, 1868 at De Witt, Ia. She was married to J. H. MONTGOMERY (sic. James Hopkins MONTGOMERY) in Fairfield Feb. 17, 1902. Mr. MONTGOMERY, who was for many years a member of the Joel TURNEY and Company firm, died April 6, 1948.

Mrs. MONTGOMERY received her elementary education in Fairfield schools. She attended Parsons college, Cornell college at Mt. Vernon and later studied music in Chicago.

She was a member of the Presbyterian church, the Fairfield Woman's club and a charter member of Chapter HA, P.E.O.

Survivors include three children, Lydia MONTGOMERY, Fairfield; Charles MONTGOMERY, Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs. Mary STEPHENSON, Ventura, Calif.; one grandson and one sister, Mrs. Nell SCROGGS, North Hollywood, Calif.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete. The body is at the Weston Behner Funeral home.

The full given name is found as "Adaelia Grand LAMBERTSON" in some LAMBERTSON/MONTGOMERY family resources. That may well have been her original given name, which she shortened to just "Ada" during her life. She was born Nov. 3, 1868 and died July 27, 1952. She was buried in Evergreen cemetery, Fairfield, Iowa. Old.P.221.
