Ethel RIVEY

LOCKRIDGE - Ethel RIVEY, 103, former Lockridge resident, died at 3:15 a.m. Saturday, July 30, 1994, at Ridgewood Care Center in Ottumwa.

The service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. Ed Newman officiating. Burial will be in Lockridge Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 7 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Memorials have been established to the Senior Citizen Center in Lockridge and Lockridge Baptist Church.

Mrs. RIVEY was born Feb. 16, 1891, north of Fairfield, the daughter of Albert and Addie SHERIDAN GREESON. She taught in rural Jefferson County schools for seven years before marrying Frank RIVEY on Dec. 25, 1917, in the First United Methodist Church parsonage in Fairfield. He died May 18, 1966. They farmed southwest of Lockridge until 1950, when they retired and moved to Lockridge. She lived in Lockridge until moving to Ottumwa in 1979 to be close to her son and daughter-in-law. She was a member of Lockridge Baptist Church, Ladies Aid, Golden Age Club, and Laff-A-Lott Club.

Surviving are a son, Frank W. of Ottumwa; a daughter, Arlene LANGLAND of Wichita, Kan.; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. A daugher, Betty L. COOK, and two brothers, Donald and Orion GREESON, preceded her in death.
