S. Audrey NICHOLS

S. Audrey NICHOLS, 81, of Keosauqua, died at 12:15 a.m. Saturday, June 23, 2012, at Good Samaritan Society-Van Buren Hospice in Keosauqua.

The body has been cremated. A memorial service is at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. David Albert officiating. Burial of cremains will be in Glasgow Cemetery.

Family will receive friends from 9-10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home prior to the service.

Memorials to Glasgow Cemetery may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 208 Selma St., Eldon 52554.

Mrs. NICHOLS was born Jan. 18, 1931 in Glasgow, the daughter of Ross and Lois ALTER GARMOE. She married Avin NICHOLS July 15, 1949. He died in 1977.

She grew up in Glasgow and lived many years in Swedesburg.

She attended Southeast Iowa Community College in Burlington, Iowa Wesleyan College in Mount Pleasant and earned a master's degree in counseling at Drake University in Des Moines.

She worked as a state vocational rehabilitation counselor in North Dakota, South Dakota and Iowa.

After retiring, she lived in Ottumwa, Douds and Eldon.

Survivors incldue two sons, Mike NICHOLS of Fort Madison and Tom NICHOLS and spouse Kim of Eldon; one daughter, Sarah NICHOLS of Normal, Ill.; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marion WATSON of Mount Pleasant and LeIla SPEARMAN of Des Moines; and one brother, Ross "Butch" GARMOE of Bellingham, Wash.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Susan SCHNEIDER; one brother, Chase GARMOE; and three sisters, Inez HOLADAY, Margaret PARSONS and Cathy MOEHLE.
