Verna Fay JARVIS

Verna Fay JARVIS, 92, of Washington, Iowa, died Monday, June 25, 2012, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

A private memorial service will be held at Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington, with the Revs. Fred and Eva Bickhart officiating. Inurnment is at Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington.

Memorials may be made to First Christian Church or Kings' Garden Children's Home.

Mrs. JARVIS was born Oct. 27, 1919, in Fairfield the daughter of Hubert and Elsie May STEWART FRY. She married Harold Wesley JARVIS Nov. 3, 1937, in Fairfield. He died in 2001.

She graduated from Fairfield High School in 1937. She was a homemaker and caregiver to her family.

She was a member of First Christian Church of Washington, American Legion Auxiliary, Republican Women, and was a past member of Eastern Star and the Rebekah Lodge.

She enjoyed traveling and spending time in Canada and Florida. She also enjoyed fishing, bowling and dancing.

Survivors include two sons, Oren W. JARVIS and spouse Mary, and Yale H. JARVIS and spouse Connie; two daughters, Beverly D. KROTZ and spouse Duane, and Marianne K. HANSHAW and spouse Jim, all of Washington; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Ivan FRY and one grandson.
