Loran Lee SMITH, 77, 200 North 28th, died Friday morning at the Jefferson County Hospital.
He was born Feb. 4, 1910 in Van Buren County, the son of Frank and Nellie CARTER SMITH. He married Helen E. BENGE on Jan. 30, 1930. She died March 5, 1981.
SMITH had worked in the foundry at the Dexter Company for 23 years. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene, where he also had been a janitor for many years.
He is survived by one son and two daughters: Kenneth SMITH, Crystal, Minn.; Florence HOSTETTER and Ruth SIMMONS, both of Fairfield. Also, surviving are one sister, Hazel BURROWS, Fairfield; one half-brother and one half-sister, Carroll SMITH, Birmingham and Pearl STONE, Vallejo, Calif.; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Clyde, one sister, Goldie, and two brothers, Orval and Willis.
Funeral services for Smith will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Robert Kelley officiating. Burial will be in Miller Chapel Cemetery south of Stockport.
Family visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. Sunday at the Behner Funeral Home. Memorials may be left to the Church of the Nazarene or the heart fund.
