Fae D. BLACK

Fae D. BLACK, 71, of rural Keosauqua died Thursday, June 21, 2012, in a motor vehicle accident at the junction of Salem Road and Highway 218 south of Mount Pleasant.

The body has been cremated. A joint memorial service for her and her sister-in-law Janet LONG, who also was killed in the accident, will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at Keosauqua United Methodist Church with the Rev. Douglas Harding officiating.

Private burial of cremains will be in Pittsburg Cemetery west of Keosauqua.

Memorials to Pittsburg Cemetery may be brought to the memorial service or mailed to the family at 20393 Jersey Ave., Keosauqua 52565.

Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua is assisting the family.

Mrs. BLACK was born Jan, 30, 1941, in Keosauqua the daughter of Otto and Sarah "Tilia" SCOTTON LONG. She married James FRANKLIN. They divorced. She married James BLACK June 6, 1982, in Keosauqua. He died Oct. 30, 2004.

Mrs. BLACK lived all her life in Van Buren County. She was a homemaker and had worked at Van Buren Good Samaritan Center, Barker Wire and Van Buren school district.

She was affiliated with Keosauqua United Methodist Women.

She volunteered at Red Cross blood drives, Christmas for Kids and Van Buren County Hospital Auxiliary.

She was a Red Hat Society member.

Survivors include four sons, Bruce FRANKLIN and spouse Lolena of Keosauqua, Gene FRANKLIN and spouse Deb of Mount Sterling, Gregory FRANKLIN and spouse JoAnn of Tiffin and Curtis FRANKLIN and spouse Rebecca WOODS of Coralville; two daughters, Connie JOHNSON and spouse Keith of Keosauqua and Julie PEDRICK and spouse Brian of North Liberty; one step-daughter, Julie and spouse Bob of Englewood, Colo.; one step-son, Jay BLACK and spouse Jackie of Oskaloosa; 24 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one brother, Donald LONG of Keosauqua.

In addition to her husband, James BLACK, she was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Jack LONG.
