Alfred J. RODENMAYER, 78, 1000 W. Grimes, died Monday, May 2, 1988, at the Henry County Health Center in Mount Pleasant, where he had been taken a short time before. He was a resident of the Mapleleaf Care Center in Mount Pleasant.
RODENMAYER was born Oct. 19, 1909, at Belleville, Ill., the son of Iva and Alfred P. RODENMAYER. He grew up in Fairfield and was a lifetime resident here. He was a member of the 34th Division National Guard during World War II and retired CWO4 (sic - Chief Warrant Officer, 4th Class) from the National Guard.
RODENMAYER worked at the Dexter Company and retired from the Fairfield Police Department. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Elks, Masons, Shrine, VFW and the American Legion.
RODENMAYER married Catherine McCLARAN (sic - McCLAREN) Oct. 20, 1930; she survives. Other survivors include daughter Marilyn DIERS of Lockridge; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers: Glenn of Medford, Ore., and Harold of Columbus, Ohio; and two sisters: Marjorie MESSER of Fairfield and Margaret MIKSCH of Packwood.
The funeral service for RODENMAYER will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the First Lutheran Church with the Rev. John Meyer officiating. Military rites and burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery.
Masonic rites will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, conducted by Clinton Lodge AF&AM No. 15. The family will receive friends afte the rites, until 8 p.m.
Memorials may be left to Mount Pleasant Dialysis or the Mapleleaf Care Center Activity Fund.

Note: His mother's maiden name was COOPER, however she was adopted by and raised by John & Mary MILLER, according to a grandson of hers. Alfred and wife Catherine, who died in 1990, are buried in Lot 2nd.261.
