Last rites for Calvin "Hap" COURTNEY, 71, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Weston Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. Donald L. Hickman officaiting. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
He died Thursday morning at his home, 404 N. Eighth.
Calvin COURTNEY was born Jan. 20, 1902, at Perlee in Jefferson County, the son of Calvin and Mary FOSTER COURTNEY. He lived his entire life in the Fairfield area.
He was married to Dorothy HOWELL in Fairfield. She died March 9, 1950. His marriage to Mariam A. LAMM took place in 1957. She survives.
He was employed at the Dexter Co. for 35 years before he went to work at the Iowa Ordnance Plant in Burlington where he was employed four years. For the past five years, he had been employed at the Fairfield Aluminum Co.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Alfred Lee COURTNEY, Fairfield; two daughters, Mrs. William HUNT, Los Angeles, Calif.; and Mrs. Everett DAY, Batavia; 11 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; also three sisters, Ferne KURTZ, Washington; Leota BROOKHART, Muscatine; and Beulah LECHNER, Brighton.
COURTNEY was a member of the Foursquare Gospel Church.
