George Alvin CLINGAN, 81, longtime resident of Jefferson County, died at 8:45 p.m. Wednesday at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Keosauqua.
He had been in failing health several years and seriously ill the past six weeks.
The body is at the Weston Behner Funeral Home where last rites are pending.
George Alvin CLINGAN was born Sept. 5, 1891, at Ollie, the son of Alvin M. and Louise HORNING CLINGAN. He was a farmer and stock breeder until his retirement.
He lived on a farm four miles east of Fairfield for a number of years and moved to the Fairfield Community in 1936.
In addition to his wife, Clingan is survived by five sons and three daughters: Charles CLINGAN, Omer CLINGAN, Maxine HOADLEY, Mrs. Kenneth COFFIN, Franklin CLINGAN and Dale CLINGAN, all of Fairfield; Arlene ROBISON, Davenport; and Dean CLINGAN, Hedrick.
Others include 25 grandchildren, seven great-granchildren and a sister, Bessie SHERIDAN, Sigourney.

. . . Services will be conducted by the Rev. Ned Gillum, Burial will be in Wright Cemetery southeast of Fairfield.
He was united in marriage June 21, 1916, to Gladys M. BOTTGER, who survives. The wedding took place in Sigourney.
Clingan is also survived by eight children, 25 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one sister. He was preceded in death by one son and two brothers.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7:30 to 9 at the funeral home.
