Wendy CASE, a former Fairfield resident, died Saturday in Scottsdale, Ariz., after a seven-year battle against cancer.
Memorial services will be held Nov. 14 at 2 p.m. at the Scottsdale United Methodist Church. Mrs. CASE is survived by her husband, Steve, and two children, Sean and Dawn. A memorial hs been established to the Human Services Institute, 49 E. Thomas Road, Phoenix, Ariz. 85012.
Mrs. CASE first contracted cancer in 1976. Since then she and her husband spent several years helping others cope with the disease through the Simonton program of cancer counseling education. Together they conducted cancer seminars over a wide area, speaking to as many as 10,000 people a month.
Both Mr. and Mrs. CASE are graduates of Parsons College. Steve was adminissions counselor at the college and Wendy was a member of the humanities department faculty. They moved to Arizona in 1967.
The Cases' work in cancer education was done through the Human Services Institute. Mrs. CASE credited the Simonton program with extending her life by combining medical treatment with positive mental, psychological and spiritual therapy.
