Darrell E. WELLER, 92, of Keosauqua, formerly of Douds died at 3:40 a.m. Sunday June 10, 2012, at Van Buren County Hospital, Keosauqua.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds, with the Rev. Jerry Caughron officiating and flag presentation by John Hyson Reneker Post 494, American Legion. The body has been cremated. Burial of cremains will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery east of Douds.
The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday prior to the service at the funeral home.
Memorials to Douds Community Club or Zion Lutheran Cemetery may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the fmaily at 14773 Washington St., Douds 52551.
Mr. WELLER was born March 1, 1920, in Keokuk the son of Orville and Gladys LEE WELLER. He married Kathryn POOL GREENFIELD June 2, 1946, in Kahoka, Mo.
He grew up in the Mount Sterling-Farmington area, served in the U. S. Army during World War II, operated the Lebanon Store, farmed in the Douds-Selma area, did carpenter work and worked at Douds Lumber & Hardware.
He was a member of John Hyson Reneker Post No. 494, American Legion in Douds.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Dale WELLER and spouse Lyn BERRY of Douds, and David WELLER and spouse Linda MOTT of Keosauqua; three daughters, Marilyn MICHAEL and spouse Tom, and Linda FULTON and spouse Loyal, all of Selma, and Jeri GOHLMANN and spouse Lee of Fremont, Neb.; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Joe WELLER of Ottumwa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Robert, Wilbur, William and infant Dale; and two sisters, Wilma McCRACKEN and Dorothy HARRYMAN.
